Derek + Maria Avery Wedding | May 26, 2018

Brianna Diggs September 26, 2018
“Brianna did our civil wedding pictures last May and we absolutely loved both her and her work. My husband’s cousin who had seen her shooting pictures at another wedding referred her to us. Brianna’s approach of just blending in with the guests and capturing candid moments was exactly what we were looking for. The pictures show our style and the whole vibe in the small and intimate wedding we had. We will treasure them forever!

She is also really easy to work with, she came to the rehearsal and stayed from the beginning till the end to familiarize with the place and wedding party. She is super responsive over text and email and provided our photos sooner than what we expected. In person, Brianna is really kind, friendly and she really took the time to listen to what we wanted.

End-to-end, we couldn’t have had a better experience with her. I would totally recommend Brianna for anybody looking for a relaxed, artistic and clever photographer! ”
— Maria Sabatte Avery (bride)

Believe it or not, this beautiful backyard summer wedding was actually the first wedding I've ever shot! Maria Sabatte Avery's cousin had seen some film photos I had taken at a friend's wedding and told Maria about me, so one night I get an inquiry to my website. My first inquiry, too! I was stoked beyond words and then met up with Maria at Front Porch Cafe here in Kill Devil Hills.  I was nervous as could be bringing in my amateur portfolio. But after Maria loved my style and decided to book, I was so excited to be able to shoot my very first wedding. Results? IT WAS AMAZING!! Derek and Maria are such beautiful humans inside + out so shooting their wedding was a breeze! I even ended up going to the rehearsal which helped me to figure out the different angles, where to stand, etc. (which I highly recommend doing because it helped so much!)

Needless to say, the whole night was just perfect. They even trusted me to shoot film photography for their bride + groom portraits and those photos turned out amazing! {Check them out here} I was honored to be able to shoot both Derek + Maria's rehearsal and wedding. Looking forward to shooting more weddings/family portraits/styled shoots for 2018-2019! Affordable prices. Email briannadiggs5@gmail.com or use the contact form on the website if you or someone you know may be interested. Take Care!

xx Brianna Diggs

Outer Banks Snow Daze

Brianna Diggs January 28, 2018

Living on the Outer Banks in the dead of wintertime can be quite the challenge...especially when there's a bunch of crazy snowstorms that keep on pounding the island.  I used to love the snow but lately it's been hard to handle. BUT, that being said, I was fortunate enough to have good friends that had 4 wheel drive and were able to venture out in the cold when the roads were nothing but ice! Here's some photos from the first snowstorm of the season...featuring my old coworker Ben Hitchcock (check out his photography!), Forest Davis, and my neighbor Troy Murphy.

Bri + Bri Hawaii Trip 2017

Brianna Diggs December 16, 2017

Sitting back to write this blog post, I can hardly believe the trip Bri Vuyovich and I won from Billabong's #SummerGivesOn Instagram Contest! With Megan Haynes, Carly and Cindy from Billabong to thank... this was literally the trip of a lifetime! EVERYTHING was amazing.  {Two best friends from the little ol' Outer Banks take on the island of Oahu!} We stayed two nights at the Royal Hawaiian (Pink Hotel) in Waikiki and three nights at Turtle Bay Resort.  Although we were only there for 5 days, we woke up early every single day and packed in as much fun as we could. From the helicopter tour (with doors off!), to surfing in Waikiki with the Billabong girls, the launch of their New Wave Collection (so great)... then exploring the North Shore, eating fresh fruit and poke almost every meal...and having Iggy Pop play at the Billabong house -- we had an insanely cool trip! Here's some film highlights from Bri (Diggs) + Bri (Vuyovich). It's always been a dream of mine and Bri's to travel to Hawaii together... so thank you to Billabong Women's for making dreams come true!

Ocracoke 2017 | Blk + Wht

Brianna Diggs November 21, 2017

This day was absolutely amazing. My best friend Gretchen and I finally had a DAY OFF together, so we decided to do it big with a day trip to Ocracoke, NC.  We drove down to the Hatteras Ferry docks early in the day to get down to Ocracoke and the ferry ride was so cool! The workers saw us taking photos around with our cameras and asked if we wanted to meet the captain {who was a photographer} !! So we got to go all the way up to the "Restricted Area" to meet the captain...who then let us DRIVE the ferry! It was soooo cool!!! Once in Ocracoke, we went to Eduardo's Taco Stand....and let me just say, they were the best damn tacos I've ever had!!! We ate them underneath the Ocracoke Lighthouse & drove around the small town... ended up jumping in the ocean {which was freezing} and seeing the ponies too before getting back on the ferry! Then it was round two of hanging out with the captain and crew in the very top of the ferry! SUCH AN AWESOME DAY!!

This day was one for the books, for sure! Here's the black + white film photography from that day... taken by yours truly! | {Cover Photo: Gretchen wearing a suit by Sea + Yarn handmade crochet bikinis! Check out their Etsy shop here.}

Gretchen Hess | Golden Hour

Brianna Diggs August 8, 2017

Big thanks to one of my best friends, Gretchen Hess, for always being down to go on some crazy photoshoot with me! The lighting this day was pretty cool, and Jockey's Ridge is a huge local sand dune (technically a state park) that attracts tourists and locals from all over.  It's the largest natural sand dune on the East Coast! It makes for great photos and I'm so happy with how this photo session turned out. Check out Gretchen on Instagram, {@gretchtay_} and enjoy the salty, desert-bohemian look we created.

P.S. How the hell is it already AUGUST?! This summer is flying by!!

Brianna Diggs June 27, 2017

Is it really this late in June!? This summer has been soooo busy for me! I have been working for a local photographer {Gingersnaps Photography} and it has been so good! I definitely can't wait to pay my dues editing in the office so that I can one day finally get to shoot with her! Check out my updated "About Me" section. And in the meantime... enjoy the photos from my latest roll. Summer is in full swing: complete with cookouts, watermelon, beach days and of course... Mom's Sweet Shop! {www.sweetstuffinside.com} CHEERS!

Chelsea and Jason Jordan's Wedding!

Brianna Diggs May 20, 2017

Chelsea Jones has been a family friend of ours ever since I was born.  She and her sweet babe, Jason Jordan, got married Saturday May 13, 2017 and it was the perfect wedding.  Her dress was stunning and she looked so beautiful. The wedding party looked great together, and the little ring bearers and flower girls (my nieces and nephews) were so funny. Jesse Hines officiated her and Jason, and it was amazing. Lots of joyful tears and confetti; she wouldn't want it any other way. Here's some photos from my roll of film. I even passed the camera off to Casey McDonald (@cacaocacao on Instagram) so that Wolfi and I could get a few photos together too. Enjoy! ....and CONGRATS TO THE JORDANS!!

Carlie Sturtz | Wrightsville Beach, NC

Brianna Diggs May 2, 2017

So Carlie is a friend of mine... she did my hair awhile back and with balayage/babylights she made my blonde hair look amazing! She contacted me recently about possibly doing a vintage session and I was so excited to shoot with her.

With three different outfit changes, I took a combination of both digital and film photos.  I love the way film photography looks, but sometimes it is convenient to see the photo right then and there on a digital camera.  With the first dress she wore, Carlie was such a floral beauty! It was super windy and walking down by the water her dress was getting the bottom of it soaked.. but she was so natural and fun to work with.

After leaving Crystal Pier we headed down to South End and the sunset was beautiful.  Perfect weather too. I am very pleased with all the photos and I hope you will enjoy! Go follow Carlie Sturtz {@carlie_noel on Instagram} and if you ever need your hair cut/colored/fixed, go see her at Head to Toe Salon here in Wrightsville Beach, NC!

Throwback Thursday

Brianna Diggs April 27, 2017

Well I promised myself I wouldn't write a sappy blog post about finishing college and getting my degree...{BUT just wanted to throw it out there} that today was my final last day of college classes...and after my exams, I will obtain my degree in Marketing with a Minor in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.

I have been so fortunate to have so many amazing professors and being able to join the Cameron Executive Network with my mentor Bob Pious was one of the best things I could have invested in! Huge shout out to Courtney Johnson as well...as my photography professor, Courtney has taught me everything I know about film and has pushed me to even progress with color film photography and start a directed independent study with her. She is such a great human and wonderful photographer and I truly admire her.  UNCW has so much to offer. Take advantage of your time in college because it will go by so fast.

UNCW is truly a beautiful campus and I am definitely going to miss it.  Here are some of my photographs throughout my college career.  Most are taken in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach with a few exceptions. From learning how to use a film camera to progressing with 35mm film and playing with color film photography... I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride and can't wait to see what the future post-grad life has in store for me!

Charleston Weekend

Brianna Diggs April 7, 2017

This was my second time coming down here. Charleston happens to be the oldest {and best} city in SC! I originally came to Charleston last summer to be a bridesmaid in Aubrey {Butcher} Smith's wedding! Now this time I went for Chelsea Jone's Bachelorette Weekend...or shall I say for future Mrs. Jordan?

We stayed in Folly Beach at the most beautiful house, and would go in and out of Charleston throughout the weekend. The Bachelorette Party was hilarious; too many polaroids, floral kimonos, and sexy dance moves to count. Then, on Sunday, my dear friend {Aubrey Smith} took me all throughout Charleston so I could walk around and see the city.

Charleston has such a vibrant history and a southern charm to it.  Of course, I brought my film camera with me.  Aubrey took me to candle shops & coffee bars {City Lights Coffee recommended}.  We walked down cobblestone streets, AND there were flowers in bloom on almost every windowsill!  The weather was nice, and the city is beautiful. Here's just a glimpse of what I captured.

Seagreen Gallery: "The Fine Art of Reuse"

Brianna Diggs March 14, 2017

The Seagreen Gallery, located in Nags Head next to the Surfin' Spoon Frozen Yogurt Shop, is a family owned and operated business built in the old Gray's department store building.  They are such a cool business and I love all the old bottles and unique finds in their store! You can find them on Instagram, @seagreengallery & their website is www.seagreengallery.com.

I took my film camera home with me for Spring Break and took a bunch of photos using Portra film inside of the Seagreen gallery.  Here's what I saw.  I hope you enjoy!

Old 90's Fuji Film Superia

Brianna Diggs January 24, 2017

Here's to finding my dad's old stash of Fuji Film Superia {ISO 100} most likely from the mid-late 90's.  And here's a photo of Gretchen Hess with that old 90's colored film... WHAT A BABE!

Gretchen & I have done many photo shoots together, but what I like most about this one is the quality of the photos.  Some may be blown out, some are too bright, and most are vintage-looking, but I think that part of the fun of getting your colored film developed is that you really don't know how your photos are going to turn out.  In this case, the film could have been slightly expired but it created really cool effects.

This day was well spent laying out in the yard and playing around South End in Wrightsville Beach at sunset.  For more of Gretchen, follow @gretchtay_ on Instagram.  Thanks for being my muse, Gretch...time after time.  Featured: Lana the Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix (@lan_the_pom on Instagram.)
