HLOT KSOR | Fort Fisher, NC

As an aspiring film photographer, I was delighted to work with Hlot Ksor (@hlot_ksor on Instagram) for my very first real photo shoot.  I knew of her through mutual friends but let me just say... working with Hlot in person was so much fun and she had such a great attitude.  With three outfit changes underneath a tapestry in Fort Fisher, driving to and from Fort Fisher from about 40 minutes away, letting me paint white paint all over her and hiking around to find the perfect spots, this photo shoot was quite the adventure.

Originally, I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do for this photo shoot.  Since Hlot has started her own adventure/lifestyle blog (@wilderandrove) I thought she would be the perfect fit for what I had in mind... and of course she did amazing! We met up at my house and picked out different outfits from my very own closet.  Then with a bag packed full of tapestries, confetti, paint, a dream-catcher and of course my camera backpack we headed down to Fort Fisher.

It was around 4:30pm and as we were hoping the mid-day brightness had warn off, we had no idea how perfect the lighting would actually be.   Hlot was my muse and although I hadn't really directed anyone before, she took direction well and we worked in sync with each other.  I appreciate her being willing to work with me to not only help build my portfolio but hers as well, and being extremely patient with me as I would run out of film, have to rewind it and re-load the next roll to continue on.  Overall, I am so happy with how this collaboration turned out.  Each photo is 35mm film (both color and black + white) and although I had no way of knowing how the photos would turn out, it was so worth it.

Feel free to contact me via email or Instagram if you would like to set up a photo shoot.  And don't forgot to check out Hlot's blog, Wilder + Rove (www.wilderandrove.wordpress.com). Cheers!
